We are looking for a passionate Mechanical Design Engineer to join our innovative R&D team. If you have a minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical design within the aerospace sector, coupled with strong technical skills and leadership abilities, we want to hear from you. In this role, you'll be instrumental in driving the design of critical aerospace systems. Covering everything from airframes and propulsion to landing gear and flight controls, throughout the entire design process.

Your responsibilities include:

• Oversee the design process for aerospace components, from initial concept to manufacturing, integration, and testing.
• Develop detailed 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, and bills of material required for production and testing.
• Compile comprehensive technical documentation, including engineering calculations and analyses, to justify design decisions.
• Lead and participate in design reviews to ensure project success.
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers, addressing technical queries and resolving challenges that arise during production.
• Select appropriate parts, fasteners, and equipment, adhering to industry best practices and standards.
• Play a key role in DMU (Digital Mock-Up) and configuration management.

Functie eisen

The Mechanical Design Engineer we are looking for is communicatively strong, results-oriented, takes initiative, and enjoys continually solving and identifying problems.

In addition, you possess the following:

• BSc. or MSc. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design engineering within the aerospace industry.
• In-depth knowledge of manufacturing and assembly techniques, including machining, sheet metal forming, composites, and additive manufacturing.
• Expertise in CAD and PLM software, with a focus on part design, technical drawings, and DMU management.
• Strong understanding of engineering material properties and solid analytical skills, particularly in dimensioning, load path analysis, and basic stress calculations.
• Familiarity with seal and fastener design and the selection of electro/mechanical components.
• Understanding of ISO GD&T standards.
• Proficiency in English, with Dutch language skills being a plus.
• Experience with Siemens NX and TeamCenter PLM systems is advantageous.
• Experience in metallic and composite structure design, as well as knowledge of hydraulics, fuel systems, and component design, is beneficial.
